Summer is right around the corner, and the first thing that comes to the minds of many people is going to the beach. Think of warm sand, orange skies, and the blue sea, and sunbathing to get that nice tan. Sometimes, however, not everything goes according to plan, especially when you’re planning for a trip to the beach.
There are situations that you will want to avoid entirely, such as forgetting essential equipment or losing your gadgets and devices. In this article, we will share with you five unfortunate situations that can happen to anyone during a beach trip and how to prevent them:
1. Losing your car keys
Similar to any other normal day, no one wants to misplace or lose their car keys. It’d be worse when of all the days it could end up happening, it coincidentally disappeared during your trip to the beach.
In order to prevent this, always keep your keys in a safe place, such as a secret pocket inside a backpack. There are also keychains you can buy that allows you to strap your keys to your pants’ belt loops.
2. Losing your other valuables
Of course, you don’t want to lose other stuff that is valuable to you, just like your car keys. However, not all of your belongings are as compact as your keys. It’s not exactly a good idea to leave them in the open if you’re not planning to watch over them the whole day.
You want to keep them in a safe spot where they’re not as obvious, especially for gadgets like a camera, gaming devices, or phones. If you’re carrying around cash, you can place it in a bottle and hide it under the sand where you can find it later on.
3. Getting a headache
The frequent change in pressure of diving underwater, or just taking a dip into the sea, may trigger a bad headache. Feeling pain, even if it’s just mild, isn’t really a desirable way to spend your time at the beach. It could be disorienting, and may even cause you to miss out on all the fun for the rest of the day.
You could prevent this by not diving underwater right away. First, you need to pinch your nose and close your mouth for 5–10 seconds. Doing this will create some pressure in your head. Afterward, take two deep breaths so that your body can adapt to the new pressure, preventing you from getting a headache when you take a plunge underwater.
4. Getting your phone wet
While most phones today have waterproofing features, you still want to make sure that you don’t accidentally drop your phone anywhere near the seawater. Water can cause the chips inside your phone to malfunction, and worst, it can even short-circuit and fully damage your phone.
To help you prevent your phone from getting wet, place your phone in a ziplock bag. Know that any clear plastic that’s not too big can also work as a cheaper option.
5. Getting a sunburn
Another situation you’d want to avoid is getting sunburn because it’s painful, and it’s not really ideal to have sunburn marks during your vacation. To avoid getting sunburnt, use sunblocks, and make sure to cover any exposed part of your body.
There are times, however, that it can’t be helped if the sun is blasting fully. In that case, you can use aloe vera to heal your sunburn and reduce swelling. It will also moisturize the skin and will reduce the pain that you might be experiencing.
No doubt, that going to the beach is supposed to be a fun time. This is why your summer vacation should not be ruined by the little mistakes that can easily be avoided in the first place. Always keep the tips mentioned above in mind, and you will have a guaranteed enjoyable vacation trip.
